Welcome to The Ginventory! This is a list of the Gins and some other beverages you can currently expect to find in my private collection. Each Gin is listed with a picture, a short description and a table outlining the Gin’s unique characteristics such as country of origin, list of botanicals and the alcohol volume. My personal favorites are marked with an ASCII star.
Gins
Sir Chill Gin ★

This Gin is really an absolute newcomer in terms of taste. Sweet notes complement juniper and mandarin aromas before the light aroma of tobacco plants becomes noticeable on the palate. Anyone who has a passion for discovery is in good hands here and will enjoy putting this gin through its paces.

Xolato X Gin ★
The X Gin stands out from the crowd in the big wide gin world. Why? The special gin is a successful experiment made from special botanicals such as chocolate. It sounds strange at first, but the taste is an extraordinary sensory journey. The two producers Peter (distiller at Stokerij De Moor) and Patrick (chocolate expert) have been working together on this special gin since 2015. Their idea was, or still is, to create “a drink for the gods and a pure aphrodisiac” with a soft hint of cocoa and vanilla.
Cocoa beans from Colombia were selected for the botanicals. Of course, the juniper should not be missing here either. There are also hazelnuts from Piedmont in Italy and almonds from Avola. Not only are the cocoa beans special, but the dried banana chips also find their way into the X Gin. Other botanicals include pepper, lemon, raspberry, vanilla pods and chili peppers from Madagascar. Here, much emphasis is placed on wild-growing rather than cultivated plants.

Roku Craft Gin ★
This perfectly balanced gin is created in Japanese craft tradition, with the greatest care and masterful precision. Its flavor profile is made up of the combination of six Japanese botanicals - yuzu peel, sakura flower, sakura leaves, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper - with eight traditional gin ingredients. The Japanese botanicals used are harvested according to the “SHUN” principle in the right season and at their optimal ripeness, when they have achieved their perfect taste, and are individually distilled in different pot stills. This allows the aroma of each botanical to be extracted in the best possible way.

KI NO BI SEI Kyoto Dry Gin
Japan is known for its long tradition and modern craftsmanship. These two components are of course also combined in KI NO BI SEI Kyoto Dry Gin. Japanese botanicals such as yellow yuzu, hinoki wood chips (Japanese cypress), bamboo, goyokuro tea and green sansho berries (Japanese peppercorns) are used for production. Now all botanicals are macerated and distilled separately. Then comes the so-called blending. The blending process is also called Konwa and this involves creating and composing harmony. The KI NO BI SEI Kyoto Dry Gin contains exactly the same 11 botanicals as the classic KI NO BI. The botanicals are distilled in the same six aroma categories. This means that the botanicals are divided into 6 aroma groups (bases, citrus, tea, herbs, spices, flowers) and distilled separately from the other aroma groups. It is then refined with the famous Fushimi water.

Saigon Baigur Dry Gin
A total of 16 botanicals, many of them from regional origins, are contained in this gin. In addition to Buddha’s Hand, you will find many exotic botanicals in Saigon Baigur Dry Gin. These include dragon fruit, lotus flowers and lemongrass. Chili, pepper, cardamom and the warm aromas of cinnamon provide a pleasant heat and spice. The result is a fruity drinking experience that is characterized by new, exotic aromas and always brings to life the fine, spicy nuances of the various botanicals.

Hapusa Himalayan Dry Gin
For a long time, India, the homeland of Gin & Tonic, was not represented in the global gin scene. Despite the country’s impressive botanical diversity, connoisseurs searched in vain for an authentic Indian gin. That has now changed thanks to the startup Nao Spirits. With Hapusa Himalaya Gin, the founders present the world’s first Himalayan Dry Gin, which delights on the nose with the earthy scent of pine forests and on the palate with the aromas of Indian wildflowers.

Illusionist Gin
Complex sensory properties thanks to floral and fruity aromas. Mediterranean touch with rosemary, lavender, chamomile, coriander seeds. More balanced aromas from mace, juniper, angelica root. Imkerei Oelkrug Honey Gin
This extraordinary gin combines the fine aromas of botanicals with the natural sweetness of exquisite honey. Both pure and mixed, it presents a very special taste experience.
This particular gin was gifted to me by a dear friend, contributing some additional methaphorical sweetness to that already present from the honey.

Iron Balls Gin
A base alcohol made from pineapple and coconut is used as the basis for the Iron Gin Balls. This sounds exotic to us, but in Thailand it is completely normal. The pineapple and coconut are picked by hand and gently fermented and then distilled. All other ingredients will be available later. Juniper is the only botanical that is used from far away. The exact recipe is kept very secret. Only very small batches of this premium gin are bottled in the small and futuristic micro still.

Adamus Dry Gin
The Adamus Dry Gin is probably the most glamorous gin on the market. As the first spirit creation from Destilaria Levira from Bairrada, Portugal, it outshines the competition with the design of its bottle alone. The square vessel in glossy white is crowned with a matching wooden cork. And in terms of taste, this premium gin also delivers what its appearance promises.
Sun-ripened baga grapes from the region serve as the basis. Other botanicals include juniper, citrus fruits, rose petals, sage and lemongrass. Although the ingredients used initially sound like the recipe for a classic gin, surprising nuances become noticeable when tasting.

Other Drinks
Glenfiddich Scotch Whisky 12 Years
Glenfiddich, near Dufftown in Scottish Speyside, is one of the last (really large) distilleries that is still family-owned. Since its founding in 1886, the distillery in the Hirsche Valley has belonged to the Grant family for the fifth generation. The company was the first to open its doors to the public in 1969 and has since been visited by over 3 million whiskey curious enthusiasts. From the start, the whiskey is made with spring water from the Robbie Dhu spring. Today, Glenfiddich is the only distillery that uses fresh water from the same source for all process steps. The whiskey matures in selected American bourbon and Spanish sherry casks. This is what makes the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old so soft, slightly fruity and balanced.

Desperados
Desperados is an international tequila-flavored beer that was the first of its kind to hit the German market in 1996. The lager gets its typical taste from the addition of tequila flavors. Desperados contains 5.9% vol. Alcohol and is typically served with a lime wedge in the neck of the bottle and drunk straight from the bottle. Since there is no real tequila in the drink, it is already permitted to be sold to young people aged 16 and over in Germany and Austria.

Aperol
The recipe for Aperol originated at the beginning of the 20th century: the brothers Silvio and Luigi Barbieri developed the aperitif in 1919 exclusively for the Padua International Fair. The name Aperol is derived from French and is based on a synonym for “aperitif”.
